FAQs
- Q?In the Spring, my trees appear to be dead. Mine have no leaves when others do. Is this normal?
-
A.
Some trees bud out early and others later. Examples: Cherry and Plum are early, while Crape Myrtle and Hydrangea are late.
- Q?What is the best time to trim?
-
A.
Trimming is advised after new growth hardens off, usually July through February, NOT March through June.
- Q?How much water do my plants and trees need?
-
A.
Watering recommendations vary due to soil conditions. Clay soil less, sandy soil more. It is best to test periodically. We suggest putting a stake or metal rod in the ground approximately 12″ or so. If it is dry and crusty you know you need more water, and if it seems wet and mucky water less.
- Q?Do you install trees and shrubs?
-
A.
With any tree or shrub you purchase at Exley’s, we have the ability to plant it for you. We will review your location for planting to see if we feel it would be a suitable location for growing. We will schedule your delivery and installation at the best time of year for your tree/shrubs. If necessary, a mark out will be called by Exley’s to ensure safety of utility lines.
- Q?What are the delivery and installation costs?
-
A.
Delivery charges are specific to location and the quantity purchased. The installation cost is 60% of the cost of the plant material. You will be made aware of both of these charges at the time of your purchase.
- Q?Do you deliver mulch?
-
A.
We sell and deliver dyed black, hardwood mulch. A minimum of 3 yards is required for delivery and there is a delivery fee based on your location/zone. Please note we deliver only. We do NOT spread the mulch.
- Q?Do you sell flowers?
-
A.
We sell flowering shrubs and perennials. We do not carry annuals.
